Enhance Quality of Life with Dementia Care at Home

A dementia diagnosis brings a wave of questions and a heavy weight of responsibility. At ComForCare, we believe you shouldn’t have to carry that weight alone. We provide more than just a caregiver; we provide a dedicated partner who understands the unique, evolving challenges of memory loss.

Our DementiaWise® certified team focuses on your loved one’s safety and emotional well-being, helping them stay in the home they love. By handling the daily complexities of care—from medication reminders to behavioral support—we give you the space to stop being a case manager and go back to being a daughter.

Whether you need a few hours of respite or 24/7 support, we’re here to help you navigate this journey with confidence and peace of mind.

What In-Home Care for Dementia Includes

Because the majority of our offices are DementiaWise® certified, our caregivers have a deep understanding of how to promote their clients’ remaining abilities as part of their duty to provide impeccable care. Services and goals that we prioritize include, but are not limited to:

Reducing Challenging Behaviors
Using distinct dementia care methods, your caregiver can foster a sense of calmness, engagement, and happiness for your loved one at every stage of their condition.
Making Meaningful Moments
When people with dementia feel engaged, encouraged, and supported, they can truly thrive. Our caregivers use meaningful activities such as music therapy to strengthen family member bonds.
Partnering in Personal Care
For dementia family caregivers, bathing, grooming, toileting, and dressing are the most common sources of stress. With help from ComForCare, you can focus on your relationship instead.
Supervising Safety
When a person has memory loss, their risk for falls and other physical injuries increases. Our team knows these risks and is prepared to make safety adjustments to the home environment when necessary.
Preparing Nutritious Meals
Dementia symptoms can pose barriers to adequate nutrition, whether a person has trouble chewing, swallowing, tasting, or smelling. Our care partners have the knowledge to create balanced, appetizing meals in a positive manner.
Engaging the Senses
Sensory stimulation opens pathways to joy and communication for people with dementia. Our caregivers can help your loved one engage their five senses and find relief from anxiety and depression.

Understanding Your Financing and Insurance Options

We know that managing the cost of dementia care is a top priority for your family. Our team is here to help you understand your options and maximize the benefits available to you:

  • Medicare & The GUIDE Model: As a forward-thinking provider, we participate in the GUIDE Dementia Respite Benefit, a Medicare program specifically designed to provide relief and support to unpaid family caregivers.
  • Long-Term Care Insurance: Policy language can be confusing. We can help you review your coverage and manage the ongoing billing process to ensure you receive your full benefits.
  • Veterans Care Programs: We are honored to serve those who served. We can help you explore VA Aid and Attendance benefits that often cover the cost of in-home memory care.

Common Forms of Dementia

When we use the term dementia, we are referring to a complex variety of symptoms, causes, and forms of cognitive decline. What unites them all is memory loss, in many cases accompanied by an impairment of other functions of the brain, including the ability to communicate, solve problems, and make judgments. Caring for a person with dementia can be an emotional experience, particularly if they experience changes in personality. That’s why our caregivers use scientifically proven strategies to alleviate dementia’s challenges and support families affected by them. We have helped seniors living with many forms of dementia, including but not limited to:
Alzheimer’s Disease
Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. It occurs when brain cells called neurons stop working, lose connections with other neurons, and eventually perish. This causes progressively worsening issues with memory, confusion, personality changes, and more.
Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD)
CJD is a rare condition in which brain proteins called “prions” fold into abnormal shapes. The irregular proteins build up rapidly, destroying brain cells much more quickly than other types of dementia.
Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD)
FTD isn’t one type of dementia, but a category of diseases involving progressive nerve cell damage in regions of the brain responsible for personality, language, and behavior. FTD is characterized by extreme behavior changes beyond the person’s control.
Lewy Body Dementia (LBD)
In people with LBD, brain proteins build up into abnormal clumps that interfere with normal brain signals. This can lead to trouble with thinking, memory, behavior, movement, and sleep.
Vascular Dementia
People with vascular dementia experience a reduced supply of blood flow to the brain, which interferes with memory, reasoning, communication, judgment, and other thought processes.
Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI)
MCI is any noticeable memory loss or decline in thinking skills that affect everyday life. These changes are not severe enough to result in a dementia diagnosis, but still impact a person’s ability to live alone safely.
