Meet the Owner
ComForCare Home Care (S.E. Fairfax - Alexandria, VA)

Meet the Owner, Tazim Mawji

I have dedicated my life to helping people, whether it be my family, my friends, or members of my community.

Both of my parents needed support to age in place. My mom had Lewy Body Dementia and my father had crippling arthritis and heart disease, which resulted in six joint replacements and numerous other surgeries. Being able to keep my parents in a loving and familiar environment was key to enabling them to live independently and fulfill their desire to remain in their own home. Providing care in the home allowed us to dramatically slow the progression of my mom’s Lewy Body Dementia, and it granted my father’s wish to stay at home and help care for her. That is the power of home care. Without such care, my parents’ lives would have been very different. I have over 15 years of personal experience navigating the challenges of aging in place, and I am a huge advocate for doing so if your circumstances allow for it. I also fully understand the complexities and challenges of aging in place.  As I was with my parents, I’m devoted to helping our clients live their best lives.

I have always wanted to help improve the lives of people in the developing world.  After earning my graduate degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University, I began a career in International Health that led me to work all over the world in program management and training. I collaborated with health policymakers and practitioners at every level in the health system, from Community Health Workers to Ministers of Health. I loved working internationally but eventually wanted to transition and be closer to home and give back to my community.  The experience with my parents crystallized my desire to work in home care. This next adventure channels my passion for working with people and finding the best solution for their care. I’m blessed to work with a dedicated team of nurses and caregivers to create a culture of service and care.  Our team is committed to caring for your loved one like a member of our own family; that is the ComForCare difference.

As the daughter of parents who needed considerable help in their later years, I’ve gained a unique perspective on supportive care. When I first began dealing with my mom’s Lewy Body Dementia, I wish I’d had the knowledge that ComForCare enhancement programs provide. Although I had a positive home care experience, it would have been easier with additional knowledge and better trained caregivers. Now, I’m determined to help families learn and understand the unique needs of the aging process and to provide support, direction, and resources so they can best help their loved ones thrive in their own home. ComForCare has a unique caregiver-client match program. It's all about cultivating a positive experience, which helps form a powerful bond between client and caregiver. As I’ve witnessed, people who feel better do better and as a result  live longer, more fulfilling lives.

The first step is always understanding the needs from the client perspective. Your goals become our goals. We support our clients and help in the care journey by learning more about our clients needs and the support they require. We work with the whole family to navigate the next stage in life which we see as transitional and will work alongside you to provide the very best access to resources and information to make the best decisions.

I’ve always seen myself as a caregiver,  always taking care of other people, the community, and now as a home care company owner. This is my life’s mission. Being in public health for the past 25 years and now working in home care I want to make a positive impact in the lives of your loved ones and provide dignified care. As a family owned business with aging parents, we believe in the power of home care and what it can do for others. Together, we are making a difference by helping clients live their best life possible.
