Parkinson’s Care

More so than almost any ailment, Parkinson’s disease requires special care for anyone who suffers from it. As a family member whose loved one is going through Parkinson’s, you want to be there to care for your loved one at all hours of the day, but with work and family responsibilities this isn’t feasible.

As the East Bay’s leader in in-home care, we are honored to have been trusted by families from Oakland, Alameda, Castro Valley, San Leandro, and other nearby areas to help provide care for their loved ones. Our team of caregivers are well trained, licensed, and above all, compassionate and caring for the people we work with.

Our caregivers often specialize in an area of care, and our Parkinson’s team features a group of truly amazing individuals who offer individual, in-home care for people who are struggling with this awful disease. This webpage is in place to answer a few FAQs about our service for Parkinson’s, and shed some light on why we’re the ideal team to help your loved one get the care they need.

What Is In-Home Care?

In-home care for Parkinson’s is a regular, scheduled visit from a caregiver to assist the patient with whatever they need. As caregivers our goal is to keep the patient safe and comfortable in the short term, and to foster improvement of their condition in the long term (when possible).

Do You Help With Everyday Tasks?

One of the main ways we help a Parkinson’s patient live comfortably is by taking on a lot or all of their everyday workload. This can mean anything from preparing food, cleaning the home, doing laundry, helping the patient bathe or put on clothes, or anything they might need. By taking on these tasks, we can keep the patient out of harm’s way and ensure they have time to rest without risking injury.

Does In-Home Care Improve Symptoms?

Parkinson’s disease takes on many different phases as it affects a patient. Depending on how early a diagnosis is made, what symptoms the patient is having, and how long they have had the disease, caregivers can perform different types of therapy and symptoms can improve. No matter what stage or form the disease has taken, improvement is always our goal.

Do You Make Changes To The Home?

With the approval of the patient and their family, we do like to re-arrange the home in most instances. Our caregivers are trained to eliminate trip hazards, create simple paths for the patient to follow, and optimize room layouts when possible.

How Often Do In-Home Caregivers Visit?

The frequency of our visits is completely up to the patient and their family. Sometimes we provide daily, primary care of Parkinson’s patients whose family members work full time or have regular obligations. In other instances, we offer “back-up” service for when family members must attend to other tasks or need a break to care for themselves. In any case, we’re there to help any way we can.

If you live in the East Bay and your loved one has Parkinson’s, our team is standing by and ready to assist you. To learn more about our services, please contact us today.
