ComForCare encourages clients and families to take proactive steps to reduce at-home fall risks. Talking with your primary care physician is a crucial first step. They can assess common risk factors that can increase your chances of falling, such as underlying medical conditions, medications you take, and even your vision and footwear. Additionally, your doctor can evaluate your strength and balance abilities, as well as your blood pressure, to identify any potential issues that might contribute to a fall.
When these risk factors are not managed properly, they can result in a fall. If a fall does happen, ComForCare understands the importance of a swift and thorough response. We’ll work hard to identify the reasons behind the fall, considering all the contributing factors. With this information, we then work with you and your healthcare provider to develop the right plan to keep you safe and independent at home.
ComForCare offers Gaitway®, a program that minimizes the risk of falls for older adults living at home. This resource empowers you to understand your fall risks, as well as equip you with tools to stay safe. Additionally, Gaitway® educates caregivers on how to best assist seniors, using a home safety evaluation conducted by a trained professional who will assess potential hazards in your living environment, such as loose carpeting, slippery rugs, and inadequate lighting.
Our Fall Risk Screening is sourced from the Center for Disease Control (CDC)—the trusted source of proven evidence-based tools for preventing falls and mitigating fall risk. Our program ensures our clients receive the best possible assessment, taking all factors into consideration.
We have partnered with a practicing physical therapist who is a leading expert on exercise programs for fall prevention. After your screening, we suggest custom interventions that can help reduce your risk. Our offices are educated on how to assess risk for falls and identify ways to reduce them.
Each office is independently owned and operated and is an equal opportunity employer.
