Emily is our owner. In a nutshell, this means she is the glue that holds all of us together and keeps us on task! Emily has worked in the hospital setting and in-home care since she was in high school. She is an EMT and is Certified as a First Aid and CPR instructor.
Emily is very involved in scheduling, working with the RN to pair our clients’ needs with our caregivers’ skills and personalities. She is a bundle of energy, and if she sees something that needs to be done, you can bet she’ll have it completed before anyone else even knows it needs finishing! She meets with our clients and helps determine their needs and what schedule would best fit their needs, making it possible for each client to “Live Their Best Life Possible.”
Before purchasing ComForCare, Trevor served for 8 years in the United States Air Force. Serving his country was always his plan, even as a young child. His father, grandfather, and great grandfather also served, so it was in his blood. Putting country and others before self was something Trevor took seriously. After serving a tour in Afghanistan, Trevor medically retired from the military. Now, as a disabled veteran, he has found another way to still serve. Veterans are his passion. For Trevor, ensuring families that their loved ones are able to age gracefully and comfortably in their homes, is the most important part of this business. Trevor is proud to be able to tell veterans that “I get it, I understand what it is like to want to take care of everyone else and make sure your loved ones have all that they need, but now it is ‘your’ turn. So, what can we do for ‘you’?”
Lisa is an acengy nurse of ComForCare for the Jackson, Lenawee, and Hillsdale Counties of Michigan. Lisa has her degree in Nursing and has been a registered nurse for many years. After working in the hospital setting, Lisa wanted a change. She didn’t want to spend her time charting and doing paperwork but rather wanted an opportunity to spend her time caring for people. ComForCare was that perfect opportunity.
Lisa oversees all clinical care. She manages the other RN’s on staff and provides clinical support to the caregivers. Lisa has a huge heart for helping people and is experienced in working with seniors’ health concerns. Whether your loved one needs assistance only a few hours a week or around-the-clock, our team is happy to help! Call (517) 759-4507 to learn more about the transition care services offered through ComForCare Home Care (Jackson, MI).
At a full-service home care agency, such as ComForCare, caregivers are agency employees, not independent contractors. This means our caregivers are bonded and insured. Plus, we manage responsibilities such as payroll taxes, workers’ compensation, caregiver screening and scheduling. If you hire a caregiver through an online registry or a private hire, you become the employer and are responsible for these tasks. At ComForCare, we take care of all the details so families can spend more quality time with their aging loved ones.
When it comes to in-home care, you want a caregiver who is professional, compassionate and qualified. We conduct comprehensive screenings, assess skills and verify certifications, employment history and references.*
Each of our caregivers must complete a full skills orientation, which uses a teach-back method. First, we explain how to care properly for a client, then the caregivers demonstrate those necessary skills to us. An example would be how to transfer a person safely in and out of a chair. We also train caregivers to work with client-specific needs and provide ongoing education. To ensure caregivers are following protocols and clients are pleased with their care, we conduct unannounced quality assurance calls and visits to clients’ homes.
Our personalized approach to care sets us apart. We understand that every person and situation is unique. Our Care Process begins with a thorough in-home consultation to identify a person’s specific needs and preferences. Next, we create a personalized plan. We then continue to communicate with our clients and their family members, conduct reassessments, and adjust the care to reflect a client’s changing needs and condition.
Our caregivers are available for a few hours a week up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. We’re also available around the clock to answer questions.
Activities of daily living such as eating, dressing and bathing are essential for healthy lives. However, it’s Meaningful Activities that bring people joy and purpose. We have found when clients are engaged in activities important to them, they are more willing to accept care. That’s why we work with clients and their families to identify Meaningful Activities based on a person’s interests, hobbies, and remaining skills and abilities.
Falls can be serious, sometimes fatal, for seniors. The good news is most falls are preventable. Many of our offices offer in-home fall safety evaluations and fall risk evaluations that look at all aspects of a person’s living conditions as well as factors known to increase a person’s fall risk. If someone is found to be at high risk of falling, we’ll make recommendations that can help keep them safer, such as home modifications and lifestyle changes.
We created DementiaWise® to enhance the lives of those living with dementia and their families. DementiaWise teaches caregivers about the changes caused by dementia as well as appropriate care methods and behavioral interventions.
Each office is independently owned and operated and is an equal opportunity employer.
