Mike Durkin

Finding care for my mother when she became ill in 2008 was a difficult undertaking, and I struggled to find agencies that met our needs and caregivers who worked well with my mother. The whole process made it very clear that there is a severe lack of care for the elderly, sick, and disabled, so I decided to use my firsthand experience with the home healthcare industry to change this. That is why I started ComForCare in 2010. I want to be in a field where I can make a real difference in people’s lives, and helping these vulnerable groups has made this one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I believe that caring for people’s loved ones is more than just a business, and I strive to give each client a warm and personal touch. I can anticipate our client’s unique needs because I have been on the opposite end of the search for home care before. I strive to become the kind of agency that would have eased my struggle back in 2008 and make anyone else looking to provide care for a loved one’s journey easier.

I was in technology for 15 years and was an instructor for a portion of that time, but after my father and in-laws experienced health issues and required care, I saw an extreme need for better services to assist the families looking to care for their loved ones. I decided to use the interpersonal skills I developed during my time as an instructor to help other families looking for home care. This is why I began working in the home healthcare industry after taking time off in 2000 to focus on raising my son, who now works with us at ComForCare. My compassion and desire to make the search for quality care easier only became more substantial once I became involved in ComForCare. Looking for care for my loved ones and regularly talking directly to families trying to help theirs has given me a much greater understanding of what different families are looking for in senior care. This allows us to give each family our own personal touch and make the process of both looking for homecare and supporting families while they have homecare as stress-free as possible.
