Embracing Fall in Your Golden Years

It’s that time of year again. Children are going back to school, the mornings are getting slightly chillier, and the talk of football is in the air. For some, this is a period of reflection. For others, this means less time outdoors. As you get older, enjoying the seasons may have become rather repetitive or boring. What are some ways you can make the most out of your autumn? In this blog post, we’ll explore ways to enjoy this beautiful season to the fullest, with tips on staying healthy, engaging in meaningful activities, and connecting with loved ones.

Weather changes can cause seasonal allergies and the circulation of the flu and common colds. To keep yourself healthy, the CDC recommends a visit to your PCP for updated vaccinations! Fun fact; older people tend to feel colder due to decreased blood circulation. Time to pull out the cozy sweaters from under the bed and head to your local coffee shop for some chai tea or everyone’s favorite, a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Autumn in Maryland is extremely beautiful. If possible, stretch those legs and go for a nature walk to enjoy the fall foliage. Some have found it peaceful to practice mindfulness, a short meditation practice, as they walk to really take in their surroundings. If the outdoors aren’t really your thing, make some time for yourself and hobbies. Many enjoy knitting and joining book clubs during this season to bring them extra coziness. Autumn also means thanksgiving. But why wait until November to connect with your loved ones? Give them a call, invite them over for dinner! There’s no reason why anyone should spend this autumn alone.
