Why can’t I just take an Uber or taxi home from cataract surgery?
Most outpatient surgery centers strictly prohibit discharging patients to rideshare drivers or taxis following sedation or anesthesia. Facilities require a named, responsible adult to be present in the building during the procedure and take direct responsibility for the patient’s discharge.
