This spring marks the first time qualifying Oklahomans can file for the credit. Here is additional information on this tax credit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Individuals must be a dependent, spouse, parent or other relation by blood or marriage to the family caregiver. Oklahomans receiving care from a family caregiver must be 62 years of age or older and require assistance with at least two activities of daily living as certified by a licensed health care provider.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Caring for Caregivers tax credit is capped at $2,000 per year for family caregivers with a federally adjusted gross income below $50,000 for single filers or $100,000 for joint filers. Those caring for veterans or people with a dementia-related diagnosis are eligible for up to $3,000 per year. The total cap for the state is $1.5 million per year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>According to the AARP, Oklahoma\u2019s 490,000 family caregivers contribute an astounding $6.6 billion in unpaid care and dedicate more than 450 million hours annually to caring for loved ones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Oklahomans who believe they may qualify can visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aarp.org\/OKCaregiverTaxCredit\">www.aarp.org\/OKCaregiverTaxCredit<\/a>&nbsp;to view the&nbsp;<strong>Caring for Caregivers Act Tax Credit Eligibility Tool<\/strong>&nbsp;and read frequently asked questions.&nbsp;The deadline to file 2024 taxes is April 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you to the loyal families and loved ones who have trusted our agency over the nearly 10 years we have been providing care.
