What Is the GUIDE Medicare Program?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

GUIDE stands for \u201cGuiding an Improved Dementia Experience.\u201d It\u2019s an eight-year voluntary pilot program launched by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to better support people living with dementia and their unpaid family caregivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Historically, Medicare hasn\u2019t covered non-medical home care services\u2014things like help with bathing, dressing, or temporary supervision while a caregiver takes a much-needed break. The GUIDE model changes that. If you qualify, Medicare may now pay up to $2,500 annually for in-home respite care, provided by credentialed agencies like ComForCare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
