However, a growing concern is the use of 1099 independent contractors caregivers who work in CCRCs but are not employed by them. This setup can bring several risks for residents, families, and the CCRC itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1099 workers are self-employed, which means they aren\u2019t directly supervised by the CCRC or a licensed agency. As a result, they may not go through proper background checks, may lack consistent training, and often don\u2019t carry adequate liability insurance.
